Essential Documents (Required for All Foreign Nationals)

Valid Passport Required

Original passport with at least 6 months validity. Photocopies of all pages with stamps.

Valid Nepal Visa Required

Tourist visa with minimum 15 days remaining validity from application date.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Embassy Required

Official letter from your country's embassy in Kathmandu confirming you are legally free to marry. Some embassies call this "Certificate of No Impediment" or "Affidavit of Single Status".

Birth Certificate Required

Original or certified copy. Must be translated to English if in another language, then translated to Nepali by authorized translator.

Passport-size Photographs Required

6 recent passport-size photos (white background, formal attire). Both partners need photos.

Proof of Address in Nepal Required

Hotel booking confirmation or rental agreement showing current Nepal address.

Conditional Documents (If Applicable)

Divorce Decree If Previously Married

Final divorce decree or dissolution certificate. Must be apostilled/legalized and translated to Nepali.

Death Certificate of Former Spouse If Widowed

Official death certificate if previous spouse is deceased. Must be apostilled and translated.

Parental Consent Letter If Under 21

Notarized consent from parents if either party is under 21 years of age.

Name Change Documents If Name Changed

Legal documentation if your name differs from birth certificate (marriage certificate, deed poll, court order).

For Nepali Partner

Nepali Citizenship Certificate Required

Original Nepali citizenship (Nagarikta) with photocopies.

Unmarried Certificate (Abibaahit Praman Patra) Required

Certificate from local Ward Office confirming unmarried status. Valid for 3 months.

Passport-size Photographs Required

6 recent passport-size photos (white background).
